Miserere mei, Deus, a musical setting of Psalm 51 by Gregorio Allegri and performed here by The Sixteen. This is one of my favorite musical pieces of all time and it is especially appropriate for this season of Lent.

A government that determines what is a religious ministry and what is not, what is the nature of an institution such as marriage, which predates both Church and state and is the creature of neither, when human life begins and when it can be taken without penal trial has exceeded the boundaries of limited government and is already on the road to totalitarianism.
Francis Cardinal George
A Psalm in Seven Haiku

For everyday I

fed myself, but not my soul,

I beg Your mercy.

For everyday I

have sought to defy Your plans,

I beg Your mercy.

For everyday I

have failed to love as You love,

I beg Your mercy.

For everyday I

have closed my heart to Your touch,

I beg Your mercy.

For everyday I

refused Your tender embrace,

I beg Your mercy.

For everyday I

cruelly pierced Your Sacred Heart,

I beg Your mercy.

Let me not forget

that though my sins abound, Lord,

more so does Your grace.
